It’s another week of “52 Weeks of Thankfulness” at Haddon’s Musings, and I have so much to be thankful for. One being the opportunity to live in Arizona. While serving in the military, it’s no secret to service members that you don’t really get to “choose” where you live. You get your marching orders and you go. Sometimes these locations are not exactly desirable, but I always felt accepting that notion could impact my happiness. I felt I could not be a happy leader or happy mama, and I embraced the mindset to see the beauty in Arizona…because this state has a lot to love! Please enjoy these photos as this week’s offering. They are from various locations in Southern Arizona. If you have time, do explore the links below.
Southern Arizona: My Short List on Touring Arizona…Oh yes, we have lots more!
The Degrazia Gallery has impressive artwork, and if you enjoy photography, want to capture a few images of family or friends, they have a plethora of “rustic” backdrops and some areas are free! You can also learn more about Ted DeGrazia via a tour that shares insight on the original home, his and his wife’s burial sites, the adobe Mission in the Sun, Gallery in the Sun and the cactus corral.
Or if you’re looking for a quiet camp location Roper Lake has quaint cabins, and they also host RV/camping sites as well. You can bike, fish, hike their very moderate trails, and at the day’s end, jump into a hot tub filled with natural mineral spring water.
Madera Canyon also offers Chuparoas’s Bed and Breakfast, tiny cabins, and a visitor center where birds flock to feed or take a drink–including the turkeys! It’s a great location to start the little ones towards a path of hiking, and they offer multiple picnic spots–especially popular on Mother’s Day!
And what’s not to love about the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum…it’s not rated THE #1 travel location in Southern Arizona for nothing–this is a must see! They always have something wonderful happening here. I might add summers are brutal in Arizona, if you visit go early morning, or better yet enjoy a summer evening event.
And for goodness sacks, ladies don’t wear heels when you visit desert locations–one it’s too dusty you will probably ruin those nice shoes! And you’re feet will ache. Be comfortable and get out there and explore!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone! I hope you make time for mini-adventures, and if you have a favorite location you would like to share please do. You never know if I might make it to your part of the woods. 😉
So pretty!

Thank you Brigid. Of course Arizona is known for the Grand Canyon, but we do have tiny gems too. If only we could easily hop to everyone’s city–wouldn’t that be fun! Thank you for stopping by.

Thank you for the nice photos. 90 is hot, it may get hotter in the summer. I’m glad you are appreciative and find your thankfulness!

Oh 90 is hot, but it’s gotten to 120 here. Some how when the mass heat comes we seem to miss every year as we head up north. Lucky us. Thank you for stopping by. I’ll pay a visit soon. 😊

I really do like it here. We have discussed moving back East a lot lately, but I’ll feel sad about that really–I don’t feel the great outdoors is as fun. Sorry East Coast folks. Well they do have the beautiful beaches, but it’s expensive. 😦

Lovely pictures. I wish I could have taken that walk with you guys. I use to do nature walks all the time, It helped with clearing my head. Now it’s been years since I have done so much as to walk on a beach, no wonder I spend so much of my time feeling lost. I really think I should take that walk,,,wow writing to you has opened my mind to a desire I thought no longer existed.

Yes please do go for a walk! What better way to see and be blessed by all that God has created. He really has given us a beautiful world–we just need to walk outside and see. In a way, when I am out and about I really feel his presence. I hope you do too. And I would love to hear about it if you have a chance.
